Something really fucked up has just happened.

shotgunserenade:

I live on a street where my cousin and her family are our neighbors. Aside from me and my brother at my place, the rest of the houses are filled with mostly women and children. Around 45 minutes ago, my cousin was hysterically shouting my name from outside. I rushed out to see what had happened.

Apparently a couple of our neighbors saw an unidentified man climb the house adjacent to theirs and once spotted, the intruder jumped over to my cousin’s wall. By the time I got there there was no sign of the intruder. Things were beginning to quiet down, ung mga usisyero bumabalik na sa tahanan nila, when I sensed something off. I thought I could hear a tiny *plink* sound coming from the left corner of their bodega. As if someone was trying really really hard to remain still atop the uncomfortable yero.

I threw a rock at the patch of darkness I felt the sound was coming from.

Suddenly all hell broke loose. A figure that had been hiding in that corner stood up and jumped to the roof of my cousin’s house itself. He was running and slipping and sliding in his rush to escape. He was making an enormous amount of noise. My Ate Chinchin started screaming hysterically. I quickly told her to shush and chill before she gets a heart attack.

I, along with my brother  and my cousin’s husband quickly scaled to the top (Ondoy had as well practiced in the mechanics of climbing up our houses) and gave chase. My brother apparently owns a Glock pistol which he carried as we pursued the mystery figure. As strained as my relationship to my Kuya has always been, one thing I have to admit, the man has a plan for everything. My cousin’s spouse had a giant Itak while I, sadly, only had an old arnis stick and a set of steel knuckles on my off-hand.

We ran after him for what felt like hours but I’m pretty sure it was only a couple of minutes. Five tops.

Then the village security with their shotguns and spotlights arrived. The invader was long gone by then though. After 15 or so more minutes of walking around uselessly, we all went back inside our respective houses.

Though things seem to be quiet now, I’m sleeping with one eye open tonight.

A similar story happened to us a month ago. ‘Cept that there were two men. On was the akyat-bahay, and the other was his look-out. Can’t sleep with two eyes closed since then.
